WordPress Start: 8. Install WP Cookie Banner

1. Select Plugins and Add New in the menu

2. Search for WP cookies Banner and click on Install Now.

3. Click on Activate Plugin

4. Create a page for the terms and conditions

Go in the Pages section and create a page Terms and Conditions.

Once you click on Publish it looks like this:

5. In the menu, select Settings > WP Cookie Banner

6. Select the page Terms and Conditions you have created previously in the drop down list.

7. Change any other options based on your preferences and click on Save all cookie banner settings

8. Now you can see at the botton of your website a temporary banner pointing to your Terms and Conditions page.

WordPress Start: 7. Install WP Statistics

When you start you’re website you will be interested to see how many visitors you have on a daily basis, how they landed on your website (google, links from other websites,…), what keywords were used to find your blog on search engine… At this stage, you don’t need to learn how google analytics is working. Creating some content for your website should be your first priority.

1. Select Plugins > Add New in the menu on the left-hand side.

2. Search for WP Statistics and click on Install Now.

3. Click on Active Plugin

4. See the list of installed plugin

You can see WP Statistics on your list of installed Plugin. You can remove the example plugin Hello Dolly as it is of not activated and not needed.

Note that to delete a plugin it works in two steps: 1. Deactivate the plugin 2. Delete. You cannot delete an activated plugin. You won’t even see any Delete link to click on for as long it is active.

5. Click on Statistics > Overview

In the menu you can see now : Statistics. Click on it and then select Overview in the sub-menu.

WordPress Start: 1. Update Plugins

Now you are connected to your admin account, it can be that some predefined plugins need to be updated.

You will see the number of updates needed circled in red.

To update your plugin(s), go in Dashboard > Updates.

In the example, the plugin Akismet which takes care of unwanted/spam comments at the bottom of your posts needs to be updated.

Tick the bock and click on Update Plugins.

Once it is done, you should see a screen similar to this one below.  Wait until the links Return to Plugins page is displayed.

Before that  you may see a screen with just the title Update Plugins. It means that the update is in process but not finalized.
